Production and Marketing
This Department is headed by a District Production and Marketing Officer (DPMO) and its functions are:
 Provide improved planting/breeding materials and inputs to the communities
 To promote commercial agriculture
 Train farmers on modern methods to improve agricultural productivity, enhance household incomes and promote food security through NAADS (OWC) and other programs.
 Sensitize farmers on Crosscutting issues like gender, environment, HIV/AIDS etc
 Control tsetse fly populations.
 Promote fish farming.
 Enforce proper fishing practices.
 Control crop destructive vermin like hippos, crocodiles and other wild animals.
 Promote bee farming.
 Control animal and plant pests, diseases and epidemics.
 Promote the saving culture through SACCOs.
 Promote industrialization trade development and tourism
